The beginning

So, back in May I had a vaguely sneaking suspicion that I may be pregnant again. I kept putting off taking a test, though, because I didn't want to be disappointed. Finally on June 1st I broke down and bought the same pregnancy test I used when we found out Dax was on his way. I actually ended up doing it at work, still expecting to see a big ol' NOT PREGNANT glaring up at me. But, no....this is what I saw.

Needless to say, it was not a very productive workday. This is also, by the way, how Cat found out. I sent this picture to him on his mobile phone. Ah, you gotta love technology.

I'm 8 weeks and a couple of days along. This pregnancy has been very similar to the last so far. Especially when it comes to puking and being exhausted. The difference this time is that I can't come home from work and pass out on the couch like last time because "last time" is very demanding of my attention. Also, you can't trust an almost three-year-old to behave while mommy takes a little nappy on the couch. Oh, well.

The due date is February 3rd. History has proven that I should not get attached to that date because the last time it changed by a whole week. My next appointment is July 3rd. We also learned from last time and Cat will not be joining me for that appointment. Last time he sat in the waiting room for eons so he could hear the baby's heartbeat and it turned out to be too early to hear it. Of course you know that his not being there will be a surefire guarantee that I'll hear the heartbeat or get an ultrasound. (Murphys Law of Fatherhood #12556)

Just like last time, we'll be waiting until we're past the first trimester to tell most people. I'm excited because we'll get to tell my family in person this time because I'll be just into the second trimester when we go to Colorado. We haven't explained it all to Dax, either. He's been asking for a baby for a couple of months but he had a very specific request and I think he's going to be a bit bummed out that babies don't come in his favorite color (red).

Welcome!

So here we go again!

We're in the 6th week, only a handful of people know, and Michelle is constantly throwing up. Hooray!
