COUNTDOWN!

Wow. I'm 30 weeks pregnant. 10 more to go (give or take however many days this baby deems appropriate).

That's awesome, huh? Also, kind of NOT awesome because I'm really uncomfortable and cranky and I'd really like to be done now, please. No? Harumph!

According to Baby Center the baby is approximately 15.7 inches long and weighs almost 3 pounds. We've been doing kick counts this past week and he usually gets his required 10 moves in within 5 to 20 minutes. I'm still feeling kicks really low which makes me wonder if the little bugger still hasn't turned over. He hadn't at my last appointment.

Here's a picture where you can kinda see the belly. We were at a birthday party (BONUS: unlimited rides on this carousel). I'm feeling a bit like a weeble.

Unlike a weeble, however, I *do* fall down. Well, I did the other day. I slipped on a bit of water at the grocery store and down I went. Ouch. I have officially entered the clumsy stage of my pregnancy (although it would help if people cleaned up spills). I dropped so many things today I was beginning to think I should just be stored in a large hamster ball to keep myself and all bystanders safe.

Nothing new coming up until December 6th which is when I repeat the glucose test. If I pass I will be stunned. I'll be at exactly the same stage of my pregnancy as I was when I failed when pregnant with Dax. Fingers crossed, please!

29 weeks

Baby Gaga says...

"This week he weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (like a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel. His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is getting bigger to accommodate his growing brain — which is busy developing billions of neurons. Every day, about 200 milligrams of calcium is deposited in your baby's skeleton, which is now hardening. With this rapid growth, it's no surprise that your baby's nutritional needs reach their peak during this trimester."

Hmmm. That might explain why I've been craving cheese and milk. Mmmmm......milk.

I had my appointment on Tuesday and Dax came with me. He got to hear his baby brother's heartbeat and it freaked him right on out of his tiny skull. Makes sense, I s'pose, since he has no idea what a "heartbeat" is so it just seemed like the room suddenly filled with an odd noise, the source of which he could not identify. He also got to see his brother with the small ultrasound machine. I really don't think he "got it" at all but he sure did love showing off for Marion.

I have to repeat my glucose test on 12/6 and then I'll see Marion again on the 11th. After that my appointments will start taking place every couple of weeks instead of once a month.

This pregnancy is just flying by!

28 weeks

Baby Center says:

"By this week, your baby weighs two and a quarter pounds (like a Chinese cabbage) and measures 14.8 inches from the top of his head to his heels. He can blink his eyes, which now sport lashes. With his eyesight developing, he may be able to see the light that filters in through your womb. He's also developing billions of neurons in his brain and adding more body fat in preparation for life in the outside world."

First of all, what the heck is a Chinese cabbage?

Ok...so that "adding more body fat" I definitely believe as my belly has suddenly become the target for rubbing which then results in comments like, "Wow, that baby is really....out there!"

Um...thanks?

This week's fabulous news is that I passed my glucose tolerence test so I'm gestational diabetes free for a bit longer. I have to go back and do the test again in a few weeks. If you remember, that's when I failed with Dax.

What I did not pass is my iron level. I'm anemic. So now I'm taking an additional iron supplement and making "oh, poor me" eyes at Cat so he'll barbeque me a steak. The funny thing is that steak didn't really sound all that good to me until I woke up this morning and now it is all I can think about.

My next appointment is Tuesday and Dax is going to go with me so he can hear his baby brother's heartbeat. I think he'll really enjoy that.
