First and Ten

Devin just wrapped up his first month of life and he has many accomplishments to show for it. Like....um....well, ok, you don't accomplish so much when you are only a month old.

His biggest talent thus far is clearly eating and the boy has the scale to back up that boast. I weighed him on Friday and he was up to 10 pounds, 7 ounces.

Behold the chunk!

I think we are also starting to see the first social smiles but they are still a bit few and far between. My mom is going to be visiting next week and I'm hoping he'll flash some gummy grins while she's here.

Devin also got some more fabulous gifts last week. Sean and Johannah sent him the coolest rattle. It's an official US House of Representatives pewter rattle. Aunt Carol and Uncle David sent an adorable little giraffe onesie and the softest, cuddliest toy giraffe to go with it. Added bonus? Dax is very fond of giraffes (and robots) at the moment so he's thinking Devin is pretty cool.

As for me? Well, my broken toe still hurts. This very likely could be because Dax keeps stomping on it. I'm also convinced that my brain will never function at full capacity again. Case in point: This morning I located an entire bag of Dax's old 0-3 month clothes that I forgot we even had. Good thing, too, because Devin was about to have to start going naked in between laundry loads.

3 weeks

Devin's third week started out well. I was feeling so much better from the c-section that Cat returned to work on Monday. To show off my independence I managed to give Devin a bath all by myself. I then managed to break my toe when I stepped over his playmat and wacked my foot into the wall.

Awesome.

Devin is growing at a phenomenal pace. When we first brought him home, even his newborn outfits were too small. Now he's already outgrown some of them. His pants no longer fall off when you lift him up. I forgot about how quickly they grow when they are this young.

His Tia Mary Ann, Uncle Derrick, and Momma and Poppa Duck (Derrick's parents) sent Devin and Dax some gifts this week. Devin's included these adorable booties that Momma Duck knitted.

(The outfit was a gift from Caren. Beware of the cute!)

Dax is still loving his baby brother although he doesn't like it when Devin cries. Fortunately, Devin doesn't do a lot of crying and Dax has already picked up on the patting and soothing method of trying to calm him. I also finally got a picture of the two boys together.

Here's hoping I make it to week 4 without any further injuries to myself or anyone else. :)

2 weeks

Another week has flown by and Devin is two weeks old today. Today is also the day he was supposed to be born but little mister had other plans.

His umbilical cord fell off a few days ago. It was not nearly as dramatic as when Cat accidentally pulled Dax's cord off. Devin went down for a nap with the cord intact and when I was changing his post-nap diaper...it was gone. I found it in the leg of his romper.

So now we can start "tummy time". Dax hated it. In fact, I've yet to hear anyone tell me that their baby liked tummy time. So, yeah. I'm not expecting it to be much fun.

Devin is still sleeping most of the time. He has a couple good chunks of active awake time during the day but I'm still trying to get him to understand that this awake time should NOT be had at 2AM.
