Where is the pause button?

I don't remember time flying by quite so quickly when Dax was a baby. I'm sure I felt it did but this time with Devin is a veritable Bullet Train flinging me forward much faster than I'd like.

Can you believe he's already 14 weeks old? Can you believe he's doing this?

Other things he's doing: grabbing and kicking at toys dangled above him, giggling out loud, solving complex quadratic equations. Well, ok, not that last one.

He's also getting big. REAL big. Today he's wearing one of Dax's old 9-month rompers and it fits him very well. Last measurements we took at home put him in the 90th percentile for both height and weight according to Baby Center's handy dandy growth percentile calculator. To give some perspective into how weird this is....Dax weighed about the same when he was almost 7-months old.

As I type this, my parents are on a plane just a few minutes from touching down. It will be my dad's first time meeting Devin. We plan to hit the zoo and possibly the train museum and who knows what else we'll find ourselves doing. They're here until Tuesday so next time I post I should have oodles of pictures.

3 months of baby

What the heck happened? I was already feeling guilty for not updating last Friday when Devin turned 12 weeks old and then I noticed I didn't update the week before that, either.

Sorry, little sweetpea.

Ok...So Devin will be 13 weeks old tomorrow. He is sooooo much fun I can't even tell you. He's making more adorable noises than ever before and he greets me every morning with a huge gummy grin. I watched him fo a long time this morning as he kicked and grabbed at the toys hanging from his play mat. He had such a look of concentration on his face and then he would break into an enormous smile and coo when he successfully made contact.

Cat and Dax witnessed Devin rolling over twice the other day. I feel much better about someone else seeing it because I was starting to wonder if I had imagined it. Dax was very proud of his little brother but he still wants to know when the kid is going to learn to walk already.

My parents will be visiting next week and we'll be renting a minivan so that we don't have to take two cars everywhere we go. If you know me, you know that I don't have any issues with minivans. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to test one out. Cat, on the other hand, is semi-mortified about the prospect. My parents have already told me not to worry about keeping them entertained while they're here but I plan on taking advantage of having guests so we can get out of the house. Yay!

So here's a picture of our little three-month-old wearing the hat that Mama Duck (Derek's mom, Pam) made for him. He's got matching booties, too. That's a good thing because he already outgrew his little blue ones.
