It was a big weekend over at the Madayag's. Dax has reached a major milestone. He is now facing forward in his car seat.
Tah-dah!

I don't know why Cat and I have been so looking forward to this. I'm pretty sure it was a much bigger deal to us that it was to Dax. He did seem to love it, though. Especially when we had the windows down a bit and he was catching a breeze back there. One of his greatest pleasures in life is a nice breeze through his hair. Talk about a blissed out kid.
Ok, so riding forward in the car isn't the only big news for Dax. He's also started to talk a bit more. He can say "ducky" and he actually seems to know what he's talking about. If you point to a duck, he says it. If you ask him where the ducky is, he can show you one. Although, this weekend we saw an emu and he called it a ducky so we clearly still have a lot of work to do.
We had him saying "Dax" this weekend, too. It was hilarious. It comes out in two syllables with a big pause in the middle. Da..........cksssssssssss.
Mostly he just makes a lot of noise. He often will sound like he's speaking in some foreign language. You know, something recognizable as speech but unintelligable unless you speak the same language.
Dax looks a lot like his daddy. Everyone says so. I rarely have anyone tell me that he looks like me. Cat and I were talking about that this weekend. I said that I could see a bit of myself in him and I asked Cat if he could. When he said yes, he could, I asked him, "In what way?" And he said, "His chattiness."
Well. At least there's something.
Posted by michelle at October 17, 2005 09:55 AMGranted, I haven't met Dax yet, but in all of the pictures I can see Cat's influence (and, um, Dax IS a boy of course!) but I see you very clearly in him. Very. His smile, in particular, makes me think "MICHELLE!"
I reserve the right to change this opinion when I finally met the Daxster, but until then, no, he definitely looks a lot like you...
