Dax had kind of a rough week last week. He took a toy truck to the face at daycare and got a black eye at the beginning of the week and he wrapped up the week by getting sick.
But our wonderful friend Melle made Dax this adorable sockmonkey and he has been making Dax feel much better.
He arrived all the way from Canada on the same day Dax got clocked and here they are cuddling on the couch.

If you look closely, you can see the beginnings of Dax's shiner. How cute is that sockmonkey? That Melle is one talented woman!
When Dax got sick he proclaimed the monkey sick as well and the two of them spent even more time on the couch together. Unlike Dax, the monkey maintained a sunny disposition throughout his illness and kept that adorable smile on his face. I think that helped keep Dax's spirits up. He's also feeling much, much better and I have to wonder if Melle's sockmonkeys come with some Canadian miracle cure stowed deep inside of them.
I'm sure you'll be seeing more pictures of Dax's new sockbuddy here in his blog. So far he's been calling him Curiousgeorge (all run together as if it is one word) or, simply, Monkey but we're hoping for a more creative name for his friend. We also don't want Dax to get sued by Universal Pictures.
No miracle cures, to my knowledge. Usually just a DNA sample, since invariably I stab myself at least once per monkey and manage to bleed on it somewhere.
Of course, that means if any of my monkeys ever turn to a life of crime, I'm screwed...
