Jumping Beans and Couches

jumping2.jpg

Dax is displaying some pretty good jumping technique here. As he reaches the apex of his leap, he tucks in his legs, and for added style points he waves his left arm above his head. Notice the confident and relaxed look on his face as he eyes his landing.

He can do this for hours.

Whoa

I dealt very well with my son turning two. I did. There was no sappy entry filled with bad poetry. I did not cry nor did I wax rhapsodic about how my son was no longer a baby. Not much, anyway. I handled it very well.

But then? Then this happened.

That, my friends and family, is a Big Boy Bed. And that is my very small son taking a nap in said Big Boy Bed. (That is also Cars bedding, in case you were wondering. He will soon, thanks to the magic and wonder of eBay, have Nemo bedding.)

Holy jeebus. I am not ready to be the mother of a child who sleeps in a twin bed with Disney character bedding. I don't know why but, moreso than actually turning two, sleeping in this bed makes him seem so very, very grown up.

He's not sleeping here at night yet. This is just where he'll be taking weekend naps for a bit. But it won't be long before the crib is history. My mom is going to be visiting in November and I'm pretty sure that she will be waking to a very small critter in her bed (and this time I am not referring to either of the cats).

Hey, mom. I think it is only fair to warn you that sometimes his diapers leak. In fact, those sheets you see in that picture got baptised during the very first nap. Bring extra jammies.
