Long time no update

Geez, it has been a long time since I updated here. Sorry about that. It's just that we've been so busy. Busy doing what? Well, glad you asked!

We've been busy with our art projects. Dax loves to paint. Watercolor is his favorite followed closely by finger painting. He also loves to draw on his little whiteboard easel. He's become quite adapt at drawing circles. Here he is giving me a lesson on "small, medium, and large". He drew three circles and then provided a little instruction in varying sizes.

Right after this he drew a picture of poop. Trust me. This was his better work.

We've also been busy playing "Little Einsteins". This is Dax's current favorite television show and he has really been into pretending that we are the characters. It comes in quite handy when I need him to do something and he doesn't want to because I just tell him that "We've got a mission" and he's game to go.

Here he is reenacting the scene in "Quincy and the Magical Instruments" just before the triangle turns into a fish. Handy, really, because he then moved on to when the silly puppets got stuck in sticky sap and they played a little rhythm to help them get out. I had to be the silly puppet who got his nose stuck.

At this point you are probably wondering if the boy ever wears pants. Yes, but mostly only if we're leaving the house. He prefers just chillin' in his pullups. The pullups he'll still be wearing at prom if the potty training continues to go as it has.

We've also been busy playing outside. His favorite things to do outside are to blow and chase bubbles, to play with his water table and/or sand table, or to climb on his new "park" that we got at Toys R Us (a little climber with a slide).

I think you'll agree he's got mad skills when it comes to chasing bubbles.

Or, um....avoiding them by dodging underneath them. Whatever.

We've also still got My Gym going on which he still loves. He may be ready to move up to the next class but we'll see soon enough because we'll need to schedule a makeup session for the class he's going to miss this week and I think we'll try the next level to see how he does. We have to reschedule because Dax and daddy are going to a baseball game together. Stay tuned for that entry.

So, yes. I haven't been productive in terms of updating here but we are up to lots of stuff. And the summer still holds so much more to do! We've got oodles of birthday parties to attend and, of course, one to throw in the end of August. We've also got a fantastic vacation planned in the beginning of August during which the whole family will be getting together (which we haven't done for two years).

And you? What have you been up to?

A Wedding and Rings

Ringboy

Here's Dax being a Ringboy. That's Maryann (Tia!), Derek (Uncle Duck!), and Tracy (Catorce!) alongside him.

Dax had so much fun at this wedding because there was so much going on. When the butterflies were released, he ran around trying to catch them. And the bubbles...Dax had so much of the bubble mix on his lips and mouth that when someone asked him a question, Dax answered and bubbles formed straight from his mouth.

And then there were three again

Um, that last post? Can we just pretend it never existed? Because the two newest residents of Daxlantis have, um, "checked out".

Dax hasn't noticed yet and I'm dreading when he does. Quite frankly, I don't think he'll care where "mommy's fish" has gone but his frog, Miss Merissa? That's another story. I think he's going to be quite upset. I'm surprisingly sad about it myself.

How do you tell a two-year-old about death? I don't think you can. I'm positive I can't tell Dax about it, anyway. He's got no frame of reference (and thank God for that).

I think I'll just tell him that the frog and fish have gone to live in the ocean. He likes the ocean. And really, perhaps fish and frog heaven is just one giant, beautiful ocean.

Rest in Peace little critters.
